HMCS ATHABASKAN was a Canadian built Tribal class destroyer and was the last of her class to be completed. Commissioned 20 January 1948, she sailed to Canada's west coast where she trained new entries and officers until the Korean war broke out. After three tours of duty in Korea, she resumed her training role until 1959 when "Athabee"  left Esquimalt to become part of a Tribal class squadron based in Halifax. There, she conducted training cruises until placed in reserve. First wearing pennant R79, then DDE219,  she paid off  in April 1966 and was broken up in 1969.
