"PTARMIGAN BID/290/1 is a  Portable Transfer Device (PTD). This  is the means by which key variables are physically distributed throughout the PTARMIGAN system. The PTD contains 512 bits of storage. The PTD is fitted with a total erase switch for emergency destruction of EKV."
