ETK TELETYPE EQUIPMENT SERIES
This equipment was used in conjunction with crypto devices made by Gretag.

ETK-47

The ETK-47 was first launched in 1947 based on specifications initially developed in 1945 for type ETK. Then the specification changed around 1947. The total length of a character was reduced from 400 to 200 ms. A copy the original 1945 ETK principal of operation #188 is available here.

The top row represents character segments which appeared on the 14 elements of the print revolver. Multiple segments were combined to produce an alphanumeric font as represented in the bottom three rows. (Courtesy  Dr. E Gretner)

This diagram shows which elements of the revolver were needed to form the letter 'R'. No more than 5 elements were used to form any character (Courtesy  Dr. E Gretner)

The ETK 47, the first in the series, was delivered around 1947. Case measures 36 x 30 x 47 cm.

The "amplifier" is fixed at the top of the case.
