HAIDA AT NIGHT

HAIDA is swathed in blue light on the evening of June 6, 2011 as part of the D-Day Gala. This has been done a few times over the last three years. The light show only lasts about 30 min since it uses thirty battery powered, mega portable lights. It takes about 1/2 hour to set them up. (Photo by Kevin Lee)

In Toronto, a heavy crane is hoisting a CBC mobile broadcasting studio aboard HMCS HAIDA in 1963 in advance of her Great Lakes tour. Al Boliska, whose name is  on the sign,  was a Toronto radio and television luminary  who worked at the CBC (Channel 6  Toronto)  then later at CHUM radio 1050  AM. We will likely never see such a sight as this again.  (HAIDA Archives photo)
