Taken in May 1957, Iroquois is drydocked in Halifax
for a refit which will last until October 1958. When it was completed,
full power trials indicated that she could maintain 28 knots in fairly
rough weather. By the end of that year, her shafts and propellors were
giving so much trouble that they had to be replaced.
The ship is still fitted with her 293 radar and
below that, the side profile of the AN/SPS6-C radar is clearly evident.
Just barely visible below the SPS6-C is the meshed-reflector version
ot the Sperry MkII navigation radar. In the background, the Angus Macdonald
bridge is just under construction. (Photo submitted by Lawrence Redman) |
