This backplate of this  Model 186  is made from steel, is louvered and acts as the antenna for the radio,  The antenna lead  from the radio connects the steel  plate with a Fahnestock clip. The clip is mounted on the top of the panel facing the chassis. This was likely a modification done by a previous owner.   (Photo by Kevin  Christopher)
