NOTES:
1) Fort Frances was on loan to the Dept. of Mines and Technical Surveys 1948-1958 and was assigned call sign CGCF.2) This vessel was one of 18 Bangor Class Minesweepers that were to be refitted and sent to Korea. Their pendant and the call sign assigned for this deployment are listed here. It is not their previous pendant or call sign. Only two ships were commissioned and only as training vessels for a short period - HMCS KENTVILLE and HMCS MINAS.
3) HMCS LOOS paid off in 1942. She was the gate vessel stationed at Shelburne, Nova Scotia, and her C.O. was Ellsworth Coggins.
4) FESTUBERT and ARLEUX were stationed in Halifax as Gate Vessels , at least during the early part of WWII. One was painted red and the other green.
5) ex HMCS ST. ELOI 1917-1920 and ex Lightship No. 20 1920-1940. From 1945-1962 she saw service with the Department of Transport.
6) HMCS GRANBY was RCMP COLONEL WHITE from August 3rd, 1945 until August 12th, 1946 and was not commissioned in the RCMP. GRANBY returned to the navy as a diving tender from 1953 until 1966.
7) ex HMS Crescent. Call sign GACX.
8) ex HMS Express. Call sign GVMY
9) This ship retained her British call sign while in RCN commission.
10) Examination vessel.
11) Call sign CGCG became the collective call sign of the Canadian Coast Guard when it was created in 1962..
