NOTES:

1) The first ship to be issued an amateur radio licence with a VE0 prefix  - VE0NA

2) Her call sign was CGCK when the ship was with the Department of Mines.

3) Call sign while the CCGS LABRADOR was CGGM.

4) This vessel was one of 18 Bangor Class Minesweepers that were to be refitted and sent to Korea. Their pendant and the call sign assigned for this deployment are listed here. It is not their previous pendant or call sign. Only two ships were commissioned and only as training vessels for a short period  - HMCS KENTVILLE and HMCS MINAS.

5) All four Iroquois 280 class Tribals have the same call signs as their WWII namesakes.

6) LST's are not  listed in Freeman's  Canadian Warship Names.

7) MACDONALD was a sister ship to LAURIER -  beautiful little patrol vessels with lots of oak and other hardwoods in their interiors.

8) LACINE became RCMP STARNES from August 3rd,1945 until August 21st, 1946 but was never commissioned in the RCMP. She was converted to a salvage tug with call sign VYNS.

9) This vessel retained her British call sign when transferred to the RCN.

10) Examination vessel.

11) KENTVILLE was CYZR during the war and CGJT for the few months she was commissioned in the 1950's. Then it was discovered  that KENTVILLE was using call sign CGXB as of  September 19th, 1942.

12) This call sign was reassigned to the River Class Frigate MONTREAL when she entered service.

13) She was ex RCMP Marine Section ACADIAN and retained her call sign by not her name. She had several pendants but settled on HC50.

14) The CGS prefix in the call sign is a good indication it was a Canadian Government Ship - most had that prefix.
