HF 9087D HF Radio

The HF-9000D and HF-9000F systems are a family of light weight HF systems designed for use on a broad range of military fixed wing and rotary wing airborne, transportable, and fixed site applications. The integrated multimode system provides data communication capability including the transmission and reeipt of text and graphics while continuing to provide voice HF communications. Embedded system functionality includes MIL-STD-188-141B, Automatic Link Establishment (ALE), MIL-STD-188-110B, data modem functionally, Independent Sideband (ISB) data operation, and ARINC 714-6 SELCAL decoding with growth capability for future HF waveforms.

The HF-9000D/F is compatible with the requirements of MIL-STD-188-203-1A for LINK 11 (TADIL A) data communications. Built-in test equipment (BITE) is utilized for diagnostic testing and monitoring. The systems operate throughout the standard HF radio spectrum, providing HF communications capability anywhere in the world. These Lightweight HF Airborne systems are versatile, digital signal processor (DSP) based high-frequency radio communications systems that provide a single integrated system solution to current and future HF voice and data communications requirement. The HF-9000F is the newest edition to the HF-9000 product line. The HF-9000F is the choice for the demanding environment of tactical fighter aircraft and other platforms requiring full MIL-STD-461D and MIL-STD-704A compliance. This ruggedized variant of the HF-9000D provide exceptional vibration and shock tolerance in a lightweight, compact system.

KEY DESCRIPTIONS

The Rockwell Collins HF 9000 D/F system includes an Antenna Coupler family that efficiently tunes most HF airborne antennas, typically within one second. The learned preset tuning feature of the Antenna Coupler allows almost instantaneous tuning on frequencies previously tuned by the system. Tuning data is stored in the system’s memory for each frequency and channel tuned. This data is recalled and used when that frequency is tuned again to minimize tuning time.

The versatile control capabilities of the Rockwell Collins HF-9000 D/F allow it to be installed in a variety of applications. Manual control of the system may be accomplished using the HF-9012D control or MIL-STD-1553 data bus. An EIA-232 control interface is also available to provide te system integrator with maximum system integration flexibility.

The HF-9000 D/F radio system software can be updated through the radio’s MIL-STD-1553B serial control interface ensuring a cost-effective and renewable growth path to add emerging STANAG waveforms such as STANAG 4444, STANAG 4538, STANAG 5511, and ARINC 635/HFDL.

The HF-9089 D/F Receiver Transmitter internal control software uses the ADA programming language and the software is contained in FLASH reprogrammable memory that is externally reprogrammable, facilitating convenient software field upgrades. Software updates can be accomplished via the MIL-STD-1553B bus utilizing the MIL-STD-2217 protocol.

MIL_STD-188-141B AUTOMATIC LINK ESTABLISHMENT:
Personnel cannot afford missed/garbled communications or can they be burdened with the complexity of finding the right frequency. ALE allows the HF-9000 D/F system to tune to the optimal frequency to provide the best available voice/data channel.

SELCAL:
Personnel can no longer afford to dedicate valuable aircrew time to monitoring radio frequencies for incoming transmissions. They need an automated alert function to notify them when an incoming transmission occurs. The HF 9000 D/F’s embedded ARINC 714-6 SELCAL capability allows aircrews to be notified when other sites are transmitting to them.

INTERNAL MODEM:
Robust data communication is critical for today’s applications. The HF-9000 D/F provides internal modem waveforms with data rates up to 19,200 bits per second per MIL-STD-188-110B Appendix F.
