No 5 Maritime Receiver

This receiver consists or a single circuit with the note amplifier mounted in the same case.   It is intended for use in lifeboats when the directional receiver is not fitted. The receiver employs a .detector valve, and note magnifier valve with variometer tuning and reaction.  The two valve filaments are connected in series and a crystal is provided for emergency use. A  changeover switch is provided to bring either the crystal or valves into operation.

The receiver is of such a simple design that no further description is necessary. Simplified diagrams of connections for valve and crystal reception are given in fig. 366.
