1956: Goose Creek , just slightly south of Churchill, was on the Churchill River and was reached by train. It would drop off station personnel then pick them up 3 days later on it's return trip from the south. The Navy provided a Quonset hut for a hunting camp. The fishing and hunting were excellent. A DAY AT THE BEACH - CHURCHILL STYLE
church_beach1.jpg
1962: Joyce Stewart (wife of Doug) and neighbours enjoying some sunshine at the beach. Unlike your normal soft sand beach, Churchill's geography offered this ungainly outcropping of rock for all to frollick on. The buildings at Fort Churchill can be seen in the background. (Photo by Doug Stewart)
1962: Doug Stewart and his two sons. Not too many beaches can offer a supply of bulk ice to help cool you off when the sun is beating down. Yes, its summertime and there is ice on the beach at Ft. Churchill!  (Photo via Doug Stewart)
